Adapted from Stephen King’s 1972 short story of the same name, The Mangler follows small-town cop John Hunton as he investigates a series of gruesome incidents centered around a, seemingly demonic, industrial speed iron and folding machine. Is The Mangler  Worth Watching? | The Mangler is a Stephen King Night Shift adaptation that leans into occult horror, demonic possession, and dark themes of human sacrifice, generational trauma, and corrupt small-town power structures — all revolving around a killer industrial laundry machine. Despite being a collaboration between three horror legends — Stephen King, Tobe Hooper, and Robert Englund — the film’s silliness leads to misfires more times than not, earning only a one-star rating from Brandon (but a 2.7 average on Letterboxd). However, the use of gory practical effects should serve as a high point for horror fans.
