Children of the Corn (1984) Analysis & Recap: The Cob Mob

In this episode of Terrorific, host Brandon O. frolics through the cornfields of Nebraska with a breakdown of the 1984 horror cult classic, Children of the Corn.

Adapted from Stephen King’s 1977 short story of the same name (later published in 1978’s collection Night Shift), Children of the Corn follows a couple as they unwittingly stumble into a deserted town where a cult of murderous children have a habit of offering adults to a demonic deity, He Who Walks Behind the Rows. Listen along as Brandon hilariously recaps the film’s plot and dissects its themes, including the dangers of blind faith, religious fundamentalism, and navigating external influences on impressionable youth. Someone really needs to ground those little hellions!

Is Children of the Corn Worth Watching? | With an average Letterboxd rating of 2.7, the film is often criticized for its slow pacing and lackluster execution, with Brandon giving it a personal rating of 1.5 stars. However, diehard Stephen King and horror fans alike may still want to give it a chance for its chilling premise and iconic imagery.
